Ronda Ghibellina
A race through history, surrounded by nature
In the heart of Tuscany, among the panoramic ridges of the Val di Chio and the medieval charm of Castiglion Fiorentino, one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year returns: the Ronda Ghibellina Trail, now in its sixteenth edition. Two days dedicated to trail running, hiking and outdoor experiences in one of the most captivating landscapes of central Italy.
An experience of nature and history
The Ronda Ghibellina is much more than a race: it is a journey through olive groves, oak and chestnut woods, ancient mule tracks and small villages that tell centuries of history. The route offers continuous changes of scenery, moving from panoramic ridges to shaded valleys and sections that follow springs and remnants of the ancient Etruscan-Roman aqueduct. A technical, fascinating and deeply immersive trail.
Competitive races
The event features four race distances designed for different levels of experience, all united by the same spirit: embracing the mountains with passion and respect.
Ronda Ghibellina PLUS – 68.6 km • +3300 m elevation gain
The toughest challenge, starting at 5:00 AM. A long and varied route for experienced athletes seeking a complete adventure.
Ronda Ghibellina – 46.4 km • +2370 m elevation gain
Starting at 8:00 AM. Perfect for those who enjoy long distances without entering the ultra range, yet still want a significant challenge.
Ronda Assassina – approx. 24–25 km • +1300 m elevation gain
Start at 8:30 AM. A dynamic, technical trail ideal for runners looking for a demanding race in a shorter format.
Ronda Minima – 14–15.7 km • +700–840 m elevation gain
Start at 9:00 AM. More accessible and suitable for many participants, yet still offering scenic viewpoints and exciting sections.
Non-competitive walks
For those who prefer to explore the area at a slower pace, the Ronda Ghibellina offers two walking routes designed to showcase the Val di Chio in a peaceful, immersive way:
Marcia Ardita – 32.5 km • +1375 m elevation gain
A demanding walk, ideal for experienced hikers wanting to spend a full day in nature.
Marcia delle Fonti – approx. 9–10 km
A new and charming path following the ancient aqueduct and passing several springs. Perfect for families, groups and those seeking a simpler, more contemplative experience.
