It's a collection of over 400 medals signed by numerous great artists, including Salvador Dali.
That's the "Collezione Soriente", result of a donation exhibited at Palazzo Pretorio in Castiglion Fiorentino.
The Collection is the fruit of more than 30 years of painstaking research in antique shops, fairs, and flea markets, resulting in a large selection of medals from all over the world, from France to Egypt, to China and Japan.
The exhibition showcases numerous works from the second half of the 20th century, including pieces by renowned sculptors and engravers both Italian as Floriano Bodini, Pericle Fazzini, Emilio Greco, Guido Veroi, Enzo Scatragli, from Castiglion Fiorentino and international: Kenjiro Azuma, Émile Russeau and Salvador Dalí.
Every medal tells a story through depictions of historical figures, monuments, coats of arms, allegoric images, fantastical animals, and panoramas, captivating viewers with their diverse shapes, colors, and engraving techniques.
It's fascinating to admire the details and decorations that characterize them, trying to decipher their symbolism.
